So your company is going well. How about we shuffle things up a bit and wreck it? Here's some quick and easy ways to do just that:
Forget your Talent
They do something you don't, so everything that you can do is irrelevant. Who cares that you offer all those things that you offer that they don't? If a client wants THAT thing, YOU can't do it. THEY can. YOU lose.
Focus Entirely on Your Weaknesses
If you can't do something, DO IT! Forget about what you're good at, and about developing your skills in those areas. For goodness sake, become average at everything, rather than becoming excellent in a few key areas.
Be a Doormat
If a client wants you to work for peanuts and threaten to go elsewhere if you can't meet those requirements, then be a doormat. Work for nothing. Your skills are only worth what they're willing to offer, after all. Under no circumstances must you even fathom that you are worth more.
Take EVERYTHING Personally
Someone said something. If they said it, it must mean that it is gospel. Under no circumstances should you use your own judgement. Ever.
You = What you do
Determine your own worth within your company by what it is that you do. Forget about who you are, nobody cares who you are. Be a cog in a machine. Be man off-the-shelf 'thing' that can be picked up and dropped at any time. Never think that your worth is determined by your character, rather than what you're up to.
If you follow these steps, you'll be sure to wreck your position in a company, and quite possibly the company as well.
